I Still Do

Nineteen!

Nineteen years ago today we said, “I do” in front of hundreds of our friends and family members.  Today, 19 years later, I still do!

It hasn’t all been rainbows, unicorns and flowers.  We have had our share of sad times, hard times and tragic times.  Our life today is COMPLETELY different than it was 19 years ago.  We added Hannah into the mix 4 years into our marriage and needless to say, SHE changed our world completely but she also completed US!

Last year, we were apart because Dennis was living here in Birmingham and Hannah and I were still in Jacksonville.  Today, we are apart because Dennis is traveling this week for work, but our love and commitment is stronger today than it was even 19 years ago.  When you travel this road of marriage and you learn to do it TOGETHER; facing the hard and tough times and fighting through it, you come out stronger and more dedicated to what you have built together.

If anyone tells you marriage is easy, they are lying to you.  But, if you are told that marriage is HARD, yet worth it, that is the truth.  Through it all Dennis and I have noticed that when I am at my weakest, he is at his strongest and when he is at his weakest, I am the strong one.  I know that is God. We have relied on the Lord to carry us and lead us and He has.  I have been Dennis’ rock and he has been mine throughout the years and I am so thankful for that.  He is my best friend, the one who keeps me laughing and the one who has protected me and provided for me and continues to.  Let’s face it, I might be slightly high maintenance but he just goes with it and caters to my needs and MANY of my wants.

We never dreamed life would bring us to where it has.  We never dreamed that God would bless us so incredibly.  We never dreamed that we would actually leave Florida (even though we both had wanted to for years) and bring us to this amazing city.  Our life together has been an amazing journey and we are looking forward to what lies ahead.

Happy Anniversary Dennis.  Thank you for choosing me so many years ago.  Thank you for loving me, supporting me, encouraging me, protecting me, providing for me and being a great husband, father and for helping me make our house a home.  You get MUCH of the credit for the life we have today and I am so thankful for your incredible work ethic and your willingness to make your girls so happy!

I STILL DO…..

I love you!
